Investing in Communities

Welcome

Dear Friends, Jambo! Greetings from Uwezo Kwa Wote Community Initiatives (UKWoCI). Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. UKWoCI was founded by women who grew up in an environment where access to basic needs was a constant struggle - poverty was a daily reality. However, through support to access educational and self-reliance opportunities complemented by the women’s strong commitment to self development, these women are now socially and economically empowered. It is now the aim of these founders to offer support towards
alleviating poverty – Together.

What we do

What We Do

Investing in Women

Over time, the 3 women founders observed that there was wide exclusion of women in setting and advancing development agenda in Kenya. UKWoCI believes that with support tailored to their needs, every Woman has potential to contribute to the sustainable development of their community. Therefore at UKWoCI we focus on empowering women towards inclusion in addressing current development issues in their communities as well as to initiate and manage sustainable solutions towards alleviating poverty.

Investing in Youth

UKWoCI also believes in investing in the youth TODAY because they are our leaders of tomorrow. UKWoCI therefore enables access to basic education and vocational skill training for this target group. Where possible they are assisted to find employment or realise self-employment.

Inclusion of Men

Desired development can only be achieved where we ensure inclusion of every stakeholder in society. Men are important to our programming because if they endorse empowerment of the women and youth in their lives, they will positively contribute to our interventions. Therefore men, come and join us as we tackle issues of poverty.

Investing in Communities

At UKWoCI we believe that everyone has a set of skills that can be used or improved so as to enable them engage in gainful activity. Our community or individual beneficiaries are assessed to determine existing resources (skills, knowledge, assets) before proposing external assistance. In partnership with the communities or individual beneficiaries a sustainable development solution is proposed where UKWoCI steps in to provide any additional resources that may be required.
